About PVGC

Where precision testing meets engineering intelligence.

PVGC started as a specialist advanced geotechnical laboratory, built around one principle: that engineering decisions deserve better data than most laboratories can provide.

That same standard is now what we look for in every laboratory we bring into the PVGC network. Having run our own lab to institutional-level precision gives us the credibility — and the technical eye — to vet other laboratories on behalf of mine sites worldwide.

Our Mission
“To deliver institutional-level geotechnical research capability with the responsiveness and precision of a dedicated specialist laboratory.”

PVGC was founded by senior geotechnical engineers who recognized a gap in the market: the testing programs demanded by modern mine design, infrastructure engineering, and environmental work required capabilities that most commercial laboratories simply didn't offer.

Today, our laboratory houses large-scale triaxial equipment, custom-designed direct shear apparatus for rock discontinuities, and advanced unsaturated soils testing capability — alongside a complete suite of standard ASTM testing methods. The result is a laboratory where any geotechnical testing need can be met at the highest standard of quality.

Our team consists entirely of senior geotechnical professionals. Every project is supported by engineers who understand not just how to run the tests, but how the data will be used — and what defensibility of that data means for the people who depend on the structures we help design.

Our Vetting Process

How we evaluate every lab before they join.

01

Credential Review

We verify ISO 17025 accreditation status, ASTM compliance declarations, and business standing before any lab is considered.

02

Capability Verification

Equipment inventory, test capabilities, and stated capacity are cross-checked against the categories a lab wants to serve.

03

Ongoing Quality Tracking

Once approved, PVGC monitors project outcomes and mine-site feedback to keep the network held to a consistent standard.

We posted our triaxial testing brief on a Monday and had three qualified lab proposals by Wednesday. That would have taken weeks doing outreach ourselves.

Our Values

How we operate, every day.

01

Precision

Every test performed to the letter of current ASTM standards, with calibrated equipment and rigorous QC — because decisions built on our data must be defensible.

02

Integrity

We report what the data says, not what clients hope to hear. Our independence and technical honesty protect both our clients and the public who rely on their designs.

03

Innovation

Custom apparatus, large-scale equipment, and advanced test protocols developed to solve problems that standard commercial laboratories cannot address.

04

Partnership

Direct access to senior geotechnical professionals throughout your project — from proposal through final data package. No junior staff handoffs.
